Belief Summary

Below is a summary of our generally accepted beliefs. Understand that we are open to being challenged. If you would like to challenge any of these beliefs, feel free to email us at: info@ancientjudaism.org

The Written Torah Is Our Only Foundation

We believe that the Torah, given by God to Moses, is Divinely inspired, complete and definitive, with no authority granted to reinterpret or expand its laws in a written or oral form. Nor is this necessary as everything you need to know is contained within. Anything that violates or contradicts the written Torah is invalid. We believe the Torah is still valid and should be followed, including the observance of the Sabbath, Feast Days, dietary laws, etc.

Only One God

We are not Christian. We believe in only One God, whose name is Yahweh. Any other way of life, religion or god that is introduced after Mount Sanai is invalid, which would include Jesus, Allah, and every other man-made religion. Many of us were former Christians, Muslims, Atheists, etc., who gave up that life and returned to Torah. Anything that violates the Torah (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, etc) is rejected. This is NOT a "Messianic" congregation.

The Oral Law Is Invalid

We believe the "Oral Law" is both scripturally and historically invalid. It is a Rabbinical myth and invention, was never passed down from Moses and is used only as a tool to keep the Jewish people under Rabbinical authority. We believe the Rabbi's have abused their authority as "judges" and only the Levitical priests were permitted to interpret the application of the law, and were never permitted to add to it as the Rabbi's have.

Anyone Can "Convert"

Ruth did not have to go through an elaborate ceremony to become "Jewish", and strangers who dwelled in Israel were allowed to take the Passover. In other words, anyone can "convert" so long as their heart is sincere in wanting to follow God. Repentance, renouncement of other false gods, and dedication to following Torah are all that is required to become "Jewish" in practice.

The Sacred Name

The use of the Tetragrammaton (YHWY) was central to Jewish ritual and practice up until Simeon the Just. After his death, the sages declared everyone "not holy enough" to speak God's name and created a taboo around it. This is a problem since in Exodus 3:13–15, God not only reveals His name, but asks it be proclaimed. We believe in proclaiming God's Holy Name loudly and reverently. And yes, we know how to pronounce it.

The World To Come

We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment. We believe that there will be a king set over Israel who will act as God's agent on earth, much like Moses or King David. This king is referred to as "The Branch" in scripture, not the "Messiah". We do believe that there will be a time of everlasting peace, where God will rule from a third temple that is built in Jerusalem and all the Jewish people will return to live in safety and all nations will worship the One True God.
